Frequently Asked Questions
Am I too young or old to learn?
All that is required is a desire to learn. However 8 - 10 years is a good age to begin. No one is too old!
What will I need?
Learner guitars cost around $250 - 400 from your local music shop. Guitars sold at supermarkets and discount stores are only toys and not recommended. The only other thing is an electronic tuner ( approx $50 ), because guitars go out of tune very quick.
How much practise will I need to do?
In the beginning stages a half hour per day is a recommended minimum.
How much is it likely to cost?
All teachers have different plans to suit your needs. Young beginners sometimes have a 15 or 20 minute lesson while others have a 30 or 60 minute lesson. Phone or e-mail one of our teachers for an appraisal of your requirements.
What experience have your teachers got?
All our teachers are registered and have experience teaching in the local high schools. They all currently perform around the local area.
Do I have to sit exams?
No, but you can if you want. No one is forced into exams.
How often are the lessons?
The lessons work best on a once a week basis, at a time to suit you.
Will I be in a group?
All our lessons are on a one to one, teacher and student only. It is the quickest way to learn. Performance classes are the only group lessons we have. They are optional.
Will I be able to read music?
We teach everyone to read music.
What if I have any other questions?
Please phone or e-mail immediately, we would love to discuss music education with you.
