Student Gets Top Job    Monday 18th of February 2002

One of my first private guitar students was a guy by the name of Simon Bowden. Beginning almost from nothing Simon showed early signs that he had the potential to really excell.

After studying with me for about five years, he completed the guitar program at Massey University's Jazz course and then went on to do a degree in public policy at Victoria University.

That led him to become the director of the Wellington International Jazz Festival, which he has just resigned to take on the role of Executive Director of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand.
He is also a foundation member of the very popular jazz/fusion band C.L.Bob, who have a new CD available, and tour regularly.

Congratulations Simon.

Simon has this advice for upcoming players

"There seems to be a recognition of how creative thinking is becoming valued in business. So guitar lessons, or any creative endeavours can lead to exciting opportunities that you never dream of when you are just starting out." "Thanks again for a great start."

Great advice from a great guy.
