What a wonderful video Kevin, thank you for the opportunity to view it. I really enjoyed listening to his ideas on the chord substitutions and especially his thinking about harmoning the different notes in his motif. Gave me some great ideas for singing, and opened my ears to some new sounds, when he played individual chords so that I could hear the individual harmonies. Fantastic.
Wow, that was a tsunami of info! Hehe. Nice to listen to and hear him talk through his ideas. Great video.

Great video. Look forward to meeting him when he is able to get here. Even more disappointed that I didn’t see him last time as I was overseas. At least he got to keep my seat warm in the Lab Band rehearsal!
Don’t worry Brenda, I told him that if he was going to keep your seat warm he had to live up to the same high standards you bring to the band. 🙂

Look out as there will be more of this type of stuff coming. Just me bringing some more value add to the forum. 🙂

David did this YouTube video for us?? Wow. Repeating motif, question & answer, nice turnaround ideas, he explains it so nicely. There is a huge amount in this video and I confess it took a lot of thinking – not sure I followed it all. Maybe we could talk about it a little in my lesson this week, Kevin.
Yes, he did it just for us. In 2018 he sat in on a Lab Band rehearsal as well, and was impressed by our version of his “The Lonely Road”.
The idea of this video is to take one idea and implement it, not to think about everything he mentions as that is overwhelm at best. Yes, we can go over this at your lesson Amanda. 🙂

Totally agree, Ivor – October hmmmm … I went to his clinic in Auckland, must be a couple of years ago, he’s so inspiring!

Wow! That was inspiring. It was like having David Becker give me a personal lesson in my own home. I really appreciate that he wanted to share how he created Palmy Blues and how he creates his solos. I even recognised a few chord names and shapes from the Berklee book that I have been looking at lately too. I think I will be a while before I can understand all that was said but I will be watching this video a lot as I cobble together a new Palmy Blues solo. Who knows, some of the expertise might rub off! I am looking forward to sharing music with David Becker when he arrives in Palmy. It is a great incentive to keep right on practicing. In the meantime i’m off to find out about his book ‘Getting solos into shape’.

I’m not hopeful either, but we will get a premium NZ guitarist to fill his spot if he can’t make it. 🙂
