I'm based in Auckland and work in IT project management.
When I was quite young I learnt violin for many years then in my teens I taught myself classical guitar using a Tune A Day book and an old guitar my parents had in our house.
Over the past few decades I haven't played much due to my corporate career and have definitely suffered the frustrations of the self-taught. A couple of my close friends died over the past few years which has prompted a bit of self-evaluation - I've realised music is my deep passion and that I need to honour that passion.
So this year I've made a commitment to lessons with Kevin (from February 2016) and playing music as much as I can. I'm also taking bass guitar lessons with Kevin.
I love music! My tastes are pretty broad and you can find me listening to jazz, rock, blues, country, or classical.
Music isn't my only interest - I'm also into sailing, photography, gardening, woodworking and all sorts of weird stuff. I love guitars too, to the extent that I recently made myself a solid body electric guitar which is now my main instrument and fills me with pride and joy every time I pick it up to play.
My goals are to play as much as possible, be the best musician I can possibly be, and work hard at it. I'm open to where my music will lead me and am looking forward to the on-going adventure.
